Budget Wedding Tips Series 2 – Create a Reasonable Budget
To avoid being drawn left and right with different choices, we strongly advise you to get draw up a plan/budget. This plan will guide you in your decision making and help you avoid pitfalls most couples fall into.
A wedding budget is a financial plan or an estimate of what you plan to spend to organize this wedding and where the money will come from. It should also state who is paying for what.
What is a reasonable budget? A reasonable budget simply means the average amount/spent by other couples based on the the options you have chosen. For example, if the going rate for halls in Ipaja is N300,000 it will be unreasonable to expect the same rate within Ikeja or Lekki. If your friend spent N600,000 on decor with disco lights, dancing floor, florals, etc but you want fresh flowers, chivalry chairs, themed decor, etc don’t expect same amount at all. I hope you get the drift.
When a vendor gives you a quote and it is way out of your budget, if you consider your budget and there is no additional room, please find another vendor or reduce the things you are asking for. Resist the urge to keep increasing the amount on a budgeted item unless there is a saving on another line item. Or else, you will find out that your budget has widened in scope and you will get stressed out looking for money.
He who fails to plan, plans to fail – unknown author.
Don’t be deceived please. Money does not fall from the sky. Be realistic about your expectations and Stick to the Budget.
Share your thoughts. Did you have a Budget at all? Has it been hard sticking to it?
